Philosophy
I teach students from 7 years old to adults, all levels
from beginning to advanced. The developement of a solid, efficient and
healthy technique is fundamental to every lesson. Each student receives
ear training and music theory appropriate to his/her level. Prior knowledge
of how to read music is not necessary; I teach music reading and/or can
provide cds for those older students who prefer to learn by ear. For more
specifics, please contact me.
Bio
I hold a Bachelors in cello and viola da gamba performance
from the Oberlin Conservatory; I studied at the Royal Conservatory in
the Netherlands and received an MFA in cello performance and literature
from Mills College. I have over a decade of experience teaching students
of all ages and levels - privately, in coached ensembles and in musicianship
classes. For more info, please click on my name above.
